Dec. 9th Sermon,
12/9/2019 01:08:15 pm
The sermon about John the Baptist and his mention to the crowd that there would be one that would come to baptize them not as he had down with water but with the holy spirit tells of the hope we have when Jesus came. The advent wreath also tells about what that stands for with the 4 candles and the Christ candle in the middle. Each symbol of the evergreen, holly, pinecones, red berries, gold, white, etc. each means the blood of Christ, the seeds, the gold from the gifts the Kings brought, the purity etc. Each candle represents Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. To learn of the meanings of the wreath and our hope in Christ will now make the Advent wreath much more meaningful to me. To understand that if we accept Christ we have the Holy Spirit in us brings hope for eternal life. The sermon spoke to me in many ways.
